Oxfam will be distributing materials to help those who have reached Serbia to cope with the coming winter. It will focus in Šid, near the border with Croatia, Dimitrovgrad near the border with Bulgaria and in Preševo/Miratovac, near the Macedonia border. Oxfam will provide toilets, showers and water points and is looking to raise €1m for this program._MG_9728.jpg

Mariam had been travelling for 7 days from Turkey via Macedonia with her two sons Abbas, 7 and Hamza, 4. Abbas suffers from muscular dystrophy and can't walk. Mariam carried him as far as Serbia before she was given a wheelchair. She intends to go to Germany to get treatment for her son. On their journey from Syria they endured a night rough sleeping in a forest, were squeezed into the back of a small van with 42 adults and 7 children. Their father, Khaled, said that while people in Serbia had been "very kind" to them, they were struggling due to a severe lack of infromation. Khaled said they had left Syria because there was no hope. "You can get used to war, but when you lose your hope you have to leave. It's not important if have you fear in your heart. When you lose hope you lose everything." He added. "Syrians are bleeding, they're dying. We pray to god that you can do something to help for our human rights. "
